Pakistan Air Force : Air Defence System - Part 1
The PAFs air defence system made a modest start in the early-50s with the induction of British Morconi Type 13 and 14 radars. Two Sector Operations Centres (SOCs) were also established during the decade, the first one at Korangi Creek and other at Sargodha. In the mid-50s, No 1 Group used to exercise operational control over these air defence elements while a Deputy Director Operations (Control and Reporting) was established at Air Head quarters for policy formulation. After the disbandment of No. 1 Group, an Air Defence Headquarter (ADHQ) was formed on 1 June 1961 and was located within the premises of Air Headquarter, Peshawar. For the next five years, the ADHQ exercised operational control over all the air defence units of the PAF. As the result of a major post-war reorganization in the 1966, an Operations Command was established again at Peshawar, to direct all operational activities of the PAF including air defence. However, over a period of time it gradually became involved in policy functions as well which created a duplication and control between Air Headquarters and Ops Command. To overcome these organizational and functional problems, it was decided to bifurcate Ops Command in 1970. All functions pertaining to tactical operations reverted to Air Headquarters operations branch and the Air Defence Headquarter was revived to exercise operational control over the air defence units. In 1974, another review led to the creation of an independent command named Air ...

PAF achieves capability to use Motorway as its unconventional Air Base
Pakistan Air Force (PAF) successfully validated its concept of fighter operations from motorway when its two fighter aircraft landed on a motorway. The historic landmark was achieved as part of the ongoing High Mark-2010 exercise. After landing, the aircraft were refuelled, rearmed and re-launched. While the point where the two aircraft touched down was not specified, it was believed to be somewhere on the Islamabad-Lahore motorway or that linking the capital with Peshawar. High Mark-2010, launched March 15, is the PAFs biggest war game in five years and covers the the entire country from Skardu in the north till the Arabian Sea in the south. According to a PAF spokesman, the ever changing geo-political environment in the region demands change in the employment concepts and doctrinal changes in the application of air power with emphasis on joint operations. High Mark-2010 would provide the PAF an opportunity to validate these concepts that are vital for the overall defence of the country, he added. To this end, the spokesman said, High Mark-2010 is aimed at conducting operations in a near-realistic tactical environment while integrating new inductions and providing role-oriented training to the combat and support elements of the force. The exercise is designed to achieve stipulated objectives with special emphasis on exposing PAF combat crew to simulated air battles based on contemporary concepts, he added. The exercise includes joint operations with extensive ...

Pakistan Air Force Combat Aircraft -پاک فضائیہ
Video Courtesy: Jibran Khan This was a firing camp demonstration held by the PAF in 2001.It includes all the PAF combat aircraft going through various air-to-air and air-to-ground exercises. A tribute to the men in blue! The men in blue are second to none. As truly noted by the sagacious one Fuming and roaring in the sky, That is how the Shaheens fly, These fireballs which take to the air, Are launched out with full deft and care. By personnel of the air and ground, Who wanting in their work are never found As to complete the mission given, Each heart is fired with altruism Thus all officers and men in blue. With pride their jobs do carry through, Who could then ever take on this force, For history would lest take its course, To show how PAF this test did bear, By striking out the enemy in ground and air. Thus, it is the PAF team that we all revere, With a trust that couldn't be defied ever By Group Captain Asad Kazim, (PAF) Pakistan Air Force A Symbol of Pride for the Nation.

Former Pak air chief in a Govt of India ad
In a major goof-up, the Indian government's Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity (DAVP) issued a full-page ad on the occasion of the National Girl Child Day featuring the photograph of former Pakistan Air Chief Marshal Tanvir Ahmed (2006-2009), along with its national heroes such as cricketers Kapil Dev, Virender Sehwag and classical musician Amjad Ali Khan. The ad, splashed in all major newspapers and thereafter on all television channels and the electronic media, caused a furor and left the Indian Air Force, in particular, incensed.

Pakistan Exercise Military War Games Near India Border
Pakistan is flexing its military might near the Indian border in massive war games, this is a clear indication that Pakistan feels secure from its western borders and is comfortable in moving the defence resources towards the eastern border to confront any threat. All branches of the military are taking part in the exercises named Azm-e-Nau, (New Resolve)-3 Fighter jets roared overhead, shots rang out and tanks lumbered through the desert sands in the biggest war games in two decades in the Khairpur Tamewali area of Punjab province, 600 kilometres (about 400 miles) south of Islamabad. The Pakistan Air Force's F-16s, French Mirages and Chinese-made F-7PGs engaged imaginary targets on the ground with a hail of bombs and missiles. Day of mourning for Pakistan air crash victims
Pakistan has declared a day of national mourning after a passenger plane crashed, killing all 152 people on board, in the worst aviation accident in the country's history. "There are no survivors. We believe all are dead. We are recovering the remains of the dead bodies from the wreckage," Imtiaz Elahi, chairman of the state-run Capital Development Authority, a city municipal body. The Airbus 321, belonging to private airline Airblue, crashed into a heavily wooded and hard-to-access hillside while flying from the southern port city of Karachi. More than 90 bodies had been recovered so far, but the bad weather was making recovery efforts difficult. "We have suspended the air operation because of rain. It will take a long time to clear the area. There's no way to transport bodies from the site except via helicopters and even helicopters cannot land there," said Aamir Ali Ahmed, senior city government official, said. Rescuers said they had to dig through the rubble with their bare hands, with fire and thick smoke hampering their work. The fire has since been extinguished, but access to the hillside remained limited to pedestrians and helicopters. "You find very few intact bodies. Basically, we are collecting bodies parts and putting them in bags," police officer Bin Yameen. The plane lost contact with the control room of the Islamabad International Airport at 0443 GMT (4.43pm Wednesday NZ time). It was carrying 146 passengers and six crew members. "The pilot was given ...

JF 17 Thunder Mass Production completely made in Pakistan begins Interview Part1
Summary of video: As the Air Marshall said there are only 7 or 8 countries which are capable of producing Fighter planes and Pakistan has joined that prestigious list! This plane is a state-of-the-art fighter plane designed by Pak-China and is designed to meet all of Pakistan Air Force's needs. Because of it's capabilities and low cost we can mass produce it and even export it to other nations who want to purchase it, such as Iran, Egypt, Azerbaijan, etc. The point of notice is not that Pakistan has fourth or fifth generation weapons but that we no longer need to rely on other countries (such as USA) for fighter planes as we are now capable of making great fighter planes entirely in Pakistan! There are only 7 or 8 countries who are capable of producing fighter planes in-house and Pakistan has joined the list. Just as we became capable of producing COMPLETELY in Pakistan the nuclear missiles, cruise missiles and other advanced military equipments such Al-Khalid tank, etc., now we can produce in Pakistan the great fighter planes too. Long live Pakistan-China Joint Developments! ============================ The PAC JF-17 Thunder (Urdu: تھنڈر), also known in China as the Chengdu FC-1 Fierce Dragon (Chinese: 枭龙; pinyin: Xiāo Lóng),[2] is a light-weight multi-role combat aircraft jointly developed by the Chengdu Aircraft Corporation of China and the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex of Pakistan. The JF-17 evolved into a more advanced fighter during the later stages of development ...

Kargil war By Air & Sea - NDTV special documentary Episode 1 of 2
The Kargil War, also known as the Kargil conflict, was an armed conflict between India and Pakistan that took place between May and July 1999 in the Kargil district of Kashmir and elsewhere along the Line of Control (LOC). The cause of the war was the infiltration of Pakistani soldiers and Kashmiri militants into positions on the Indian side of the LOC, which serves as the de facto border between the two states. During the initial stages of the war, Pakistan blamed the fighting entirely on independent Kashmiri insurgents, but documents left behind by casualties and later statements by Pakistan's Prime Minister and Chief of Army Staff showed involvement of Pakistani paramilitary forces, led by General Ashraf Rashid. The Indian Army, later on supported by the Indian Air Force, recaptured a majority of the positions on the Indian side of the LoC infiltrated by the Pakistani troops and militants. With international diplomatic opposition, the Pakistani forces were forced to withdraw from Indian positions along the LOC. The war is one of the most recent examples of high altitude warfare in mountainous terrain, which posed significant logistical problems for the combating sides. This was only the second direct ground war between any two countries after they had developed nuclear weapons, after the Sino-Soviet border conflict of 1969; it is also the most recent. (India and Pakistan both test-detonated fission devices in May 1998, though the first Indian nuclear test was conducted ...

Pakistan's first JF-17 Thunder multi-role aircraft to roll out on November 23, 2009
First state of the art JF-17 Thunder multi-role fighter plane produced in Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) Kamra will roll out on November 23, 2009. This will kick start a new era in Pak-China relationship, and aviation industry. Both China and PAF attach a lot of importance to this project, which is materializing after hectic and laborious efforts spread over almost a decade, sources said. The PAC has generated all the capability to produce the aircraft locally for its onward delivery to PAF besides materializing purchase orders from abroad. JF-17 Thunder a new generation, light-weight, all weather, day/night multi-role fighter aircraft with glass cockpit, hands-on-throttle-and-stick (HOTAS) controls and efficient man-machine interface will ensure a minimal pilot workload. The maximum speed of Mach 1.6 and a high thrust-to-weight ratio will enable it to perform well in an air defence role. An ability to carry short- as well as long-range air-to-air missiles lends the aircraft a first shot capability. In the surface attack role, a variety of weapons - conventional as well as precision-guided, a sophisticated avionics suite along with accurate weapon delivery system, ensure higher mission success rate. An effective ECM suite will greatly enhance survivability of the platform. Its anticipated air-to-air refuelling capability will provide the JF-17 with more loiter time to safeguard the frontiers and the ability to deliver the required punch at distance. It will replace ...

Pakistan Air Force Pilots of 1965 War - پاک فضائیہ
A brief but an absolute CLASSIC clip.A full-fledge WAR is going on but in the eyes of the PAF dare-devil PILOTS,its a mere exercise!!!What character, what coolness, what looks, what GRACE!!! This clip is from the Defence Day show of 2006 which was aired on ARY. It was hosted by Noor-ul-Hasan and Dr.Muzna Ebrahim ! The pilots being interviewed are from No. 19 Sqn commanded by Sajjad (Nosy) Haider. The pilots from this No .19 Sqn had every reason to brag as they did not lose a single aircraft throughout the war! The Sqn was credited with destroying almost all the heavy equipment of 15th Infantry Div commanded Maj Gen Naranjan Prasad during his advanced to Lahore in 1965 war. On top of that the Sqn also destroyed close to 14 IAF aircraft on the ground during the renowned Pathankot raid! Once again September winds blow across the land, Once again the autumn leaves dance hand-in-hand, Once again are rekindled, the memories of sixty-five And once again the golden PAF Saga comes alive. Borders had boomed with tanks and guns To flout the peace around; Stood for defence, our motherland's sons, To never give up their ground. With resolve write large on faces all, PAF beckoned to the duties call To defend the skies `at peril of life', To blunt the enemy's blatant strife, To keep vigil and let no threat bear on us, unchecked; unmet. IAF's Gnats, Hunters, Mysteres Were instilled with the gripping fears To face our air warriors' skills, As the PAF scored so many kills, In one go five ...
