Cochlear Implant: Being Forced To Wear
Closed Caption is available. Sharing my concern about a deaf child being forced to wear cochlear implants all the time even if she doesn't want to. She had one on and didn't want a second one but is required to wear BOTH at all time per judge. I want to clear up that CI is just a tool and when a child is being implanted, nothing we can do but by forcing them to wear is a big no-no. This video is also posted on my blog: www.seekgeo.com

Cochlear implant switch on for 6mth old Shenae
Shenae's Cochlear implant switch on at Sydney's Shepherd Centre On 29th Nov 2008, 6th month old Shenae had a Cochlear implant at Sydney Childrens Hospital, performed by Dr Phillip Chang. On 15th Dec 2008 the implant was switched on for the first time at Sydneys the Shepherd Centre , the early intervention centre for hearing impaired children. What follows is the footage from the tests used to assess whether the operation was a success.

Hybrid Cochlear Implant
In June 2007, Dr Herzog was interviewed regarding a new type of cochlear implant. The hybrid cochlear implant is an investigational device which blends a hearing aid with a modified cochlear implant. This procedure is intended for individuals who still have some serviceable hearing, but have decreasing benefit from hearing aids. The Center for Hearing and Balance Disorders in St Louis, MO, is one of a limited number of centers nationally who are participating in the study.
