HALCYONE - Fluorescence Lifetime Measurement System
Halcyone is an all-in-one-box fluorescence measurement system comprising Fluorescence Upconversion spectrometer and a Time-Correlated Single Photon Counting instrument. In the upconversion mode Halcyone has a time window of 3.3 ns and femtosecond time resolution. In the TCSPC regime the time window can be expanded up to 1 ms with 200 ps resolution. Switching between the upconversion and the TCSPC modes can be done very quickly without having to change the optical setup. A 2D camera is used to ensure highly precise delay stage alignment. The spectral range of Halcyone spans from VIS to NIR. Halcyone can work with either a mode locked Ti-sapphire oscillator or with a regeneratively amplified Ti-sapphire laser.

Signalling in a small amoeba population
A starved cell population of ~100 Dictyostelium cells develops on agar to form a slime mold and eventually a fruiting body (latter not shown). Fluorescence microscopy is used to visualize a ubiquitously expressed fusion protein (upper panel). The fusion consists of a CFP and a YFP connected by a linker peptide that can bind cAMP, the molecule that the amoebae use to communicate. When cAMP is binds to the peptide, the color of the fluorescence changes (lower panel). The movie shows how the cells aggregate via chemotaxis.

｢料理のり｣よりおいしい料理、作っていらっしゃいますか？ ごぼうの旬は4月～5月、11月～2月です。 "100 Recipes from Japanese Cooking (Kodansha Bilingual Books)" － 161 page ◆INGREDIENTS (4 servings) 2 (5 and 1/4 oz) burdock roots 2 Tbsp sesame oil ・It's added Cut carrot . (1 and 3/4 oz carrot) ＜Sauce＞ 1 Tbsp sugar 2 Tbsp sake 5 1 and 2/3 oz say sauce toasted sesame seeds chili pepper flakes ◆DIRECTIONS １) Wash burdock roots well, and shave coarsely from rhe skinnier ends.※ Rinse briefly with water, and drain. ２) Hear sesame oil in a frying pan, and stir-fry burdock (+ cut carrot) over high heat. ３) Add all sauce ingredients, and cook down until almost all the liquid is evaporated. ４) Serve in small dishes with toasted sesame seeds and chili pepper flakes sprinkled on top to taste. ※To save burdock roots: Cut them as if sharpening a pencil. An easy method is to lay them side by side on a cutting board and alternately roll them slighrly and make oblique cuts. ◆NOTE ・kinpira is acooking style involving stir-frying and simmering with sugar and soy sauce. ・Carrots, lotus roots, and celery are also delicious for kimpira.
